Senior Software Engineer - Conformance Test Ref ANO28
Main purpose of job
Working as a Senior Engineer the job's main purpose is to support activities in the Global Certification Forum (GCF) conformance testing arena, assisting with the development and running of in-house conformance tests and liaising with project development engineers with regards to the areas of conformance testing.
Key functions
The main tasks expected to be performed include, but are not limited to:
Run in-house conformance tests using conformance test systems from such companies as Anritsu, Anite, Racal Instruments and Rohde & Schwarz.
Analyse the test results, by means of examining the test logs, the C/C++ source files for the phone under test and the TTCN based conformance test scripts.
Provide assistance to the development team regarding conformance test issues.
Produce test reports to a high standard.
Maintain the conformance test systems.
Liaise with the GCF regarding problems identified with validated conformance tests.
Attendance at GCF Agreement Group meeting. These being 3 day meeting, held once every 3 months, generally within Europe, occasionally outside Europe.
Keep abreast of developments in the conformance test and certification arenas.
Liaise with external test houses for tests where they do not have an in-house capability.
Liaise with external test houses for the final conformance tests.
All work is to be of a professional standard, paying due regard to safety, efficiency, cost effectiveness, time scales and the needs of the company.
Skills and experience
A 2:1 degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics, Engineering or any related discipline (an equivalent period of industrial experience may be substituted).
Between 5 - 12 years experience in software and / or conformance test engineering.
Significant test experience in a number of projects, developments and systems.
Experience of OSI Conformance Testing Methodology and TTCN, Testing of Communications Protocol and Software Configuration Management.
Previous experience conformance testing mobile or cordless telephones
Competent in one or more test specification languages.
A basic understanding of C/C++ programming.
A competent level of presentation, communication and planning skills.
Self-motivation and the ability to work alone, managing own work and setting sensible priorities according to perceived requirements.
Able to take responsibility for technical decisions.
Analytical and logical thinking capability.
A good understanding of documentation requirements.
Ability to learn and implement Corporate business philosophies.
