The purpose of this position is to research emerging technologies and co-ordinate the selection of suggested technologies for evaluation and possible implementation. To provide a source of knowledge and advise on technology trends to the wider business.

The role of technical consultant provides an exciting career development opportunity within this large establishment. The role will have a key influence on the company’s IT strategy and requires up to the minute knowledge of IT developments to ensure that the company can exploit to the full, the valuable information that it has at its disposal. The role will provide support to the rest of the department in technical matters, relying on technical and interpersonal skills.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS -
Strong technical competencies and excellent influencing skills together with the desire to understand trends to Information Technology and how these can be deployed to the company’s advantage are essential.
3-5 yrs in IT evaluation and selection – Some experience of running small projects.
Knowledge of Information Systems and the Development process.
Knowlegde of wider Information Technology industry and trends.
Candidates must have a wide IT skill base – Experience in rudimentary programming is desirable (ie; VB/ Java/ XML/ Oracle/ SQL).
Excellent business analysis skills – Good commercial acumen essential.
