Java & Agile Development Team Leader sought by
this Java digital arm of a large News Media company based in London.
With over 140 websites in their portfolio they have rapidly grown
from a company of less than 100 people in 2004 to nearly 800 in
London.
With
continuing growth and expansion the creation of a New Java Digital
Services division in London has begun whose responsibility
lies in the ongoing technical advancement of the companies own
and companion Java website's.
As
the Java Development Team Leader you will lead and mentor a Java
development team of 7 Java Developers designing
the company’s
flagship Java web sites. As the Java Development Team Leader you
will also be responsible for the adoption of agile programming
methodologies within the Java development team and business units.
To design and deploy new Java / Agile technology solutions that
extends their Java software architecture to meet future business
objectives.
To summarise as Java Technical and the Java Team Leader you will:
- Lead a team of 7 Java developers, interacting directly with
business owners
Gather and analyse business requirements
- Mentor Senior, Mid, and Junior Java Developers
Create complex Java software solutions on our client site and
custom CMS with our team
- Be responsible for ensuring that all technical
and non-technical team needs are met
- Program
50+% of your time, using Object Oriented languages – Java/J2EE
- Code in Java in a Test Driven Java / Agile Development environment
- Constantly
learn and implement the latest Java & Agile
practices
- Use open source tools including SpringCore, Spring
MVC, DWR,
Hibernate, JUnit, Subversion, Apache and more
- Be involved in all phases of Java / Agile software
development from design to implementation
- Drive design decisions
- Create quality software that you will be proud of

Java Project Managers and Java Developers.
The Java Project
Managers will ideally come from a media related role but 3 years
plus project management experience is the most
important criteria. The ideal applicant must have customer/client
skills, have abilities and experience in managing multiple (JAVA)
projects at the same time, be they large or small, £1k to £multi-million
and have an understanding of the complete Java software development
lifecycle.
With all these
abilities you can expect a salary to £65k

Use your JavaScript to work with this continuing growing and expanding

This Java division whose responsibility lies in the ongoing technical

this case using JavaScript although the majority of development
uses Java J2EE and J2SE.
The job and what are they looking for
The Java development applications team is responsible
for the definition and delivery of the company’s Java/JavaScript
web development strategy. They also deliver common Java and JavaScript
software solutions that are implemented across all the company’s
companion JavaScript web sites.
Examples include Java and JavaScript architecting,
JavaScript designing and JavaScript developing for the company’s
JavaScript websites user registration systems, feedback and forums.
These
are implemented across all JavaScript web sites.
The Digital JavaScript Services Team works closely
with each web sites JavaScript development team to deliver bespoke
requirements.
They also work with key business units of the company e.g.
- The
Commercial Partnerships team – where they architect and
develop multiple and/or one off designs.
- They
also work with the company’s Web Analytics team to deliver
bespoke solutions for a CRM strategy.
They now seek several additional JavaScript and Ajax developers
to join this JavaScript team reporting to the JavaScript team leader.
The most successful candidates usually come from a similar large
company environment but they will consider very good self trained
JavaScript developers or those coming from a small company environment.
